Several weeks before, we have disclosed one new tablet from PIPO, the PIPO P8. After that, many people keep on asking me when it will be available for sale. This morning, this unit is already available for sale on ontablets.es. This unit comes with the latest RK3288 quad core CPU from Mediatek, one 2048*1536 pixels screen, 3G dong built in etc. The 16GB edition is only 125 euros, and 32GB edition is 138 euros.

We had a post reviewing the performance of the RK3288 quad core CPU. It has a very good video playback. Except the powerful CPU, unit owns one 7.9 inch IPS screen, resolution is 2048*1536 pixels. RAM is 2GB. The front camera is 2M pixels, and rear one is 8M pixels. The battery capacity is 5300Mah.

This unit is quite similar as another new tablet from iFive, Mini4. Though, the price of PIPO P6 is a bit higher, but its performance is still much better. So people can choose according your own demand.

Last Sept, Microsoft released its second generation Surface tablet, Surface Pro 2. This model is pre installed with the Windows RT operation system, so the sales is not good in market. This morning, ontablets.es released a USD100.00 off promotion for this Surface Pro 2.

As Microsoft released its latest Surface Pro 3 tablet, the Pro 2 seems to be out of date. Now, if you order this Surface Pro 2 online, the 32GB edition will be only 350 US dollars. the 64GB edition is 450 US dollars, and the LTE 4G edition will be 579 US dollars. Totally speaking, the price is quite good.

Regarding the configuration of Surface Pro 2, it owns one 10.6 inch IPS screen, the resolution is 1920*1080 pixels. It adopts the Nvidia Tegra 4 quad core CPU. The RAM is 2GB. Flash memory can be 32GB and 64GB. The front camera is 3.5M pixels, and rear one is 5M pixels.

If you are interested in Pro 2, it is a good chance to own one. As Surface Pro 3 has been available for sale several month before, we believe, there is no much stock for Pro 2 in Ontablets.

After Google acquired Motorola, it did not release any new products. But recently, Ontablets disclosed that Motorola will release eight new smart phones at the end of this year. In meanwhile, it will move back to tablet market as well. Now, it has already started to test several new tablets. As estimation, the new tablets will be for sale in next summer.

As some news told, now, Motorola is testing some 7 inch, 11 inch and 12.5 inch tablets. And the test for 7 inch tablets is coming to an end. It will be launched very soon. Regarding 11 inch and 12.5 inch tablets, there is little news about it.

The 7 inch tablets come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core CPU, but when it is released to market, it may change to adopt the Nvidia Tegra K1 quad core CPU.

The 7 inch tablets is mostly likely to be released in next summer, if lucky, we may see 11 inch and 12.5 inch tablets at that moment as well. Although the news is not confirmed by Motorola, but recently, CEO of Motorola said maybe some day, Motorola will launch a tablet with customized Moto Maker service. It may indicate that Motorola will come back.

Surface Pro 3 is the latest tablet from Microsoft. Compared with the last two edition, Microsoft has made dramatic improvement on configuration and design. Of course, after it is available for sale, we have found some bugs on it. So Microsoft is always working on the resolve the bugs. Today, there is a new firmware update for this Surface Pro 3. By this update, the performance of Surface Pro 3 will be enhanced a lot, especially the starting up time.

This update has included the BIOS and Property tags, shorten the starting up time. That means Surface Pro 3 can be started up in a very short time. But this update is not to resolve other firmware bugs in Surface Pro 3, so users have to update manually in Windows Update service.

From today on, users can update your Surface Pro 3 yourself.

As we have mentioned before, this Huawei Mate 7 comes with one 6 inch screen. But the resolution is not 720P, but 1080P. The CPU is Kirin 920 octa core, frequency is 1.8GHz. As it is a new chipset, so we don't know its performance. It owns 2GB RAM and 16GB flash memory. Operation system is Android 4.4.2. The unit can support the 4G LTE network. But the above information is only for standard edition. Mate 7 has another higher edition. The screen resolution may be 2K, and RAM will be 3GB, flash memory may be 32GB. But it is not for sure, we need to wait further information from Huawei.

Last week, we have already reported that Sony will display a new Xperia Z3 tablet in the IFA 2014 trade show. Now, this news is confirmed. That means we can see a new Xperia tablet in very near future.

As our news, this new Xperia Z3 tablet is named Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. In the new edition, Sony has reduced the screen size, it is only 8 inch. That may mean Sony will not release new big size screen tablet, and move to small size tablet in future.

Recently, Samsung becomes the focus as it released one new smart phone named Galaxy Alpha. When it was launched, we have got one sample to test. What surprised us is the performance of the CPU it owns is very good. We tested by a third party software, the performance is very similar as the Nvidia Tegra K1, and in some aspect, it is even better.

At that moment, we don't know what the CPU is adopted by the Galaxy Alpha. But today, Samsung launched a new CPU, Exynos 5430 octa core. It is the one Galaxy Alpha adopts.

This Exynos 5430 octa core CPU adopts the 20nm process technology and the big.LITTLE framework from ARM. It integrates four Cortex A15 and four Cortex A17.

Except the higher performance, Samsung also reduced the power consumption by 25%. This chipset can support 2K resolution screen, and H.265 decode.

Except this new CPU, Samsung launched a new baseband chip as well, the model number is Exynos Modem 303. Though, Samsung did not disclose any information about this chip, but Ontablets believe it should be one for LTE Cat6 4G network.

As news from Taiwan last night, TSMC is trying to speed up the 16nm process. The trial production will be moved ahead to the third quarter of 2014. The first processor will be the Kirin 930, one 64 bit CPU based on big.LITTLE.

News suggested that TMSC invested a lot to enlarge the production volume of 16nm process chipset. The investment is over 3 billion US dollars. The first batch of Kirin 930 is in mass production this month. And in last quarter, the 16nm FinFET processor will be available for mass production. By this Kirin 930, Huawei surpassed Mediatek and Qualcomm, and becomes the first supplier adopting 16nm process.

This year, Huawei has already released the Kirin 920 chipset, and in the conference, Ontablets has been told that Huawei is developing 5G device.

Though, Kirin 920 is a nice processor. But the CPU and GPU performance can be improved further. The power consumption is very low already. So this new Kirin 930 may adopt the new Imagination PowerVR 6 series GPU. As the availability of Kirin 930, Huawei will become one of top CPU supplier in the world. But before that, Huawei need to resolve its shortcomings on operation system. If it can get back from Google or other big OS supplier, Kirin CPU will be top brand name in world.

We are always impressed by the high performance of a Sony smart phone. Of course, its price is also much higher than similar mobile phone from China. But today, Ontablets displayed one entry level smart phone from Sony. Though, the price and release date is unknown, but from its specification, we can see it is a cheap model.

This Sony D2203 comes with one 6.1 inch big screen size, but the resolution is only 480*854 pixels. I am not wrong, it is only 480*854 pixels. Nowadays, buyers have higher demand on the screen resolution, we can not find any excuse to buy a mobile phone with such a low resolution screen. The unit adopts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad core CPU, frequency is 1.2GHz. It owns one 1GB RAM and 4GB flash memory. The front camera is only 0.3M pixels, and rear one is 5M pixels. The operation system is the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.

As Sony reduced the screen resolution and adopts one quad core CPU from Qualcomm, I can believe, the running speed is not bad. But I still can not believe it.
