Yesterday, Action announced that its ATM7059 processor is upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop operation system.

ATM7059 is a new quad core processor launched in 23th, Sept. This processor is based on ARM Cortex A9 R4, and adopting 28nm process technology. Frequency is 1.6GHz. GPU is Imagination PowerVR SGX544. By the low power consumption processing technology, and LPDDR3 etc parts, its power consumption is quite low. This processor can support 2K resolution display, and 1080P HDMI output.

So why Action chose this processor for Android 5.0 Lollipop OS? That is because, this processor has very high performance and low power consumption, when working under Android 5.0 OS, it can provide users a very high experience. More important, it is also quite cost effective. Action was also considering one dual core upgraded to Android 5.0 OS, but the performance is not good enough.

In 4th, Nov, Google has already launched the code of Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, but about one or two month before that, Action has already got the partial code already. That is why Action can upgrade its processor to the latest OS so quickly.

After refined under Android 5.0 OS, this Action ATM7059's performance is enhanced by about 33%, video playback performance is enhanced about 20%.

Today, Qualcomm, which is the biggest smart phone processor supplier, announced that it will enter the host market. As what Qualcomm said, as the demand from client, they will start to provide processor for host. Though, it may take a long time, but Qualcomm is quite interested in it.

Qualcomm did not tell its product information. But it will adopt the ARM framework which is also adopted by some other companies who want to enter this market. Now, in the market, Intel is still the leader, and it adopts the X86 framework. Even AMD who adopts the same framework only takes 3% market. But many clients expect new products to replace Intel, especially ARM framework.

Most companies which are interested in Qualcomm's new product are some big website owners, like Facebook. Facebook is quite excited when Qualcomm announced the news.

But compared with Intel, Qualcomm still has some shortcomings, like the high speed network technology which is necessary for host processor. But till now, Qualcomm is the biggest company for ARM framework, so they have much advantage than others.

As the report from Ontablets, in 2014, the demand of smart wearing device is increasing quickly. In 3rd quarter of 2014, the total sales volume of smart wearing device is over 12.7 million pieces. In 2013, it is only 9 million pieces. It is increased by 40%.

As estimation, the total sales volume of smart wearing device will be 52 million pieces. Compared with 2013, it is increased by 32%. And in 2015, it will be increased further to 74 million pieces, and increased by 44%.

Now, in smart wearing device market, Fitbit is still the leader though its competitor, CE is also moving to this business. And Samsung, LG, Motorola have launched their smart watches.

As Lucas from Ontablets said, the smart wearing device with network connection will be increased greatly in following years. And in 2016, its sales volume will be about 83 million pieces.

As Apple launched its smart watch, and it will be available for sale in 2015, the smart watch with network connection will be becoming popular in following years.

Recently, Chuwi launched a new 8 inch tablet pc with Windows OS. Model number is Vi8. Price is only 65 euros. Now, it is launched, and will be available for sale in early of Dec.

This Chuwi Vi8 owns one 8 inch IPS screen. Screen resolution is 1280*800 pixels. As the design is very compact, so, even the screen size is 8 inch, it looks quite small, and you can take it with you easily. Its CPU is the Intel 64 bits Z3735F quad core processor. RAM is 2GB, and flash memory is 32GB. Operation system is Windows 8.1 OS.

The frequency of its CPU is 1.83GHz. This processor is based on the new 22nm process technology. It has a good performance and low power consumption.

This Chuxi Vi8 can support Android OS. But now, Chuwi Vi8 is still working on the firmware for Android OS. When it is ready, users can choose Windows OS and Android OS.

As news from ontablets.es. Intel is scheduled to combine PC and mobile processor department together. Intel has already occupied the market of processor for PC and host. But now, they are expecting to have some break in mobile processors.

This plan will be taken effect in 2015. The mobile processor business is one of mobile and communication group. But in the 3rd quarter of this year, this group has lost about 1 billion US dollars. Last year, the income of this group is about 353 million US dollars, but now, it is only 1 million US dollars. Of course, that is because, Intel has given a lot of special plan to promote its mobile processor in 2014.

But for PC group, its profits has been increased to 4.1 billion US dollars, and total income has increased to nearly 9.2 billion US dollars, about 9% more than last year.

Now, in tablets and smart phones, Intel is still going after ARM. But as more and more 2 in 1 tablets available in market, the sales of Intel processor will be increased in following years.

In the HK Sourcing Fair hold in Oct, Yuandao has shown one tablet pc for old men. Model number is T60. And recently, this new tablet is available for sale on ontablets.es

Yuandao T60 adopts one 7 inch IPS screen, resolution is 1024*600 pixels. CPU is MTK8312 dual core processor. RAM is 512MB, and flash memory is 4GB. The front camera is 0.3M pixels, and rear camera is 2M pixels. It can support 3G, wifi, bluetooth, and GPS function. So its configuration is not good, but it is enough for old men.

This T60 is coming with one high capacity battery. Its standby time is over 7 days, over 168 hours. So you don't worry the battery is running out when out.

At the back of the unit, there is one AAC speakers, the volume is enough.

Regarding the operation system, it runs Easy OS which is customized for old men. More important, T60 comes with SOS emergency system. When any accident happens, old man just need to slide up the SOS icon to make calls to contact, and also send text to contacts as well.

As smart phones are more and more popular, the demand of digital cameras is reduced a lot in recent years. Most smart phones can take a high resolution pictures as well. So people don't need a digital cameras. But Sony, one big CMOS sensor and digital camera supplier in Japan, still sells a lot of digital cameras in the past years. Its sales is not reduced. Recently, news from ontablets.es said, Sony will launch a new CMOS sensor. It will enhanced the picture quality a lot.

The model number of this new sensor is IMX189AEG. Its size is 1.5 inch. It adopts the APCS technology. It owns 485 pixels, and Tri-colorphoto function. Though its resolution is not high, but it can increase sunlight and enhance image quality. More important, it can support recording in 2K resolution and 16000 fps, and high speed shutter system.

Ontabltes did not tell detail information about this new sensor. So we can not make sure which products will adopt it. It may be adopted in the new Sony smart phone, Z4. But as te size of the sensor is too big, many people say it may be adopted in Sony high end digital cameras. But we can not make sure for now.

Of course you can not expect it is available soon. Maybe it will be launched about 1 year later.

Yesterday, Google Nexus tablets have already received the latest Android 5.0 OS. This upgrade has included Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 which are the old tablets from Google.

In fact, one week before, Nexus users can upgrade their operation system to latest Android 5.0. But there is some problem on power consumption when wifi connection. To resolve this problem, Google has delayed this upgrade to yesterday. Imagination Technologies launched the new generation GPU yesterday. It is the PowerVR 7 series. And this new GPU will be firstly adopted by Apple.

The performance of PowerVR 7XT and 7XE is enhanced by 60% compared with the old PowerVR 6XT and 6XE. And the power consumption is the same as the last generation. As we know the PowerVR 6XT has already been adopted by Apple A8 processor. It contains about 2 to 16 shadow cluster. By its high performance, this GPU can realize HDR and 4K rendering.

Now, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus adopt the A8 processor with GX6450 GPU. And iPad Air 2 adopts the GX6650 GPU. As estimation, the new generation GPU will be adopted about 18 months later.

In the CES 2014 trade show, Apple launched the A8 processor with PowerVR 6 series GPU. And eight months latter, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are available for sale. Obviously, this PowerVR 7 series GPU will be adopted in the Apple A9 processor. From middle of 2009, Apple has already hold 10% shares of Imagination Technologies.
