PIPO C2 smart watch
PIPO is one well known tablet pc supplier in China. Recently, PIPO launched its first smart watch, C2. It can work as a watch to display time and date, it is also a smart phone, users can make calls, read text, listen music etc. Its price is only 25 euros.
The color of C2 is white, the dial plate and bracelet can be separated. C2 can connect with your smart phone, then you can answer calls through this C2 smart watch. When it is disconnected with mobile phones, system will warn you. Of course, just like other smart watches in market, it can be used for your daily activities, like your running speed, distance etc. Except, it has the remote capture function, calendar, volume control and alarm function as well.
As our information, this PIPO C2 is running Android OS, not the Android Wear OS. Regarding its solution, it may be from Mediatek.
iPad Mini 4, A8 processor
As the screen size of iPhone becomes bigger, many people guess, Apple may cut off iPad Mini. But recently, news from suverimax.com said Apple will not cut iPad Mini, and its new iPad Mini 4 will be launched soon.
The iPad Mini 4 will come with new Apple A8 processor and support 802.11 ac Wifi. Compared with last generation iPad Mini, the processor is upgraded, but compared with A8X which is adopted in iPad Air 2, the performance is still lower.
Last year, Apple launched iPad Mini 3 with Touch ID function, but the processor is still A7. Many people are not satisfies with the processor, so the sales is not good.
If the above news is true, then this iPad Mini 4 may be launched in this autumn.
HTC launched its first smart bracelet, Grip
In the WMC 2015, HTC launched its One M9, in meanwhile, its first smart bracelet was launched, named Grip. The design of Grip is quite simple, it looks like a bracelet with built in GPS. There are 5 high sensitive sensor built in. It can track your training data, and communicate with up to 20 friends, and provide interaction consult.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with self developed framework
In our old entries, we have already talked a lot of news about the Snapdragon 810, one top processor from Qualcomm. As the over heating problem, this processor is delayed. Since the delay, Qualcomm also lost a lot of business, including Samsung. Now, in market, there is few mobile phones or tablets adopting this processor. As Samsung has already launched its top mobile phone, Galaxy S6 with its own Exynos 7520 octa core processor, Qualcomm also launched its new SOC, Snapdragon 820 in the WMC 2015.
But Qualcomm did not tell too much information about this new SOC. As our information, Qualcomm will not adopt the ARM framework for this processor, but based on its self developed framework. Snapdragon 820 will adopt the 14 or 16 FinFET process. It will be one octa core chipset, GPU is the Adreno 530. It can support the DDR4 and MDM9X55 LTE-A Cat.10 module.
Qualcomm also launched its first Neural Processing Unit, called Zeroth. The Snapdragon 820 is the first CPU based on Zeroth technology. As estimation, Snapdragon may be available in 2nd half of this year.
Ainol AX10 4G Tablet pc launched
Recently, Ainol is quite silent. But today, we received one new tablet pc from Ainol. It is Ainol AX10 4G. Generally speaking, its configuration is not high, but it can support 4G LTE network.
This Ainol AX10 4G owns one 10,1 inch IPS screen. Resolution is 1280*800 pixels. CPU is the MTK8732 quad core processor. It is based on ARM A53 framework, and GPU is Mali-T760 MP2. Except 4G LTE network, it also support Bluetooth, GPS, and TF card. The front camera is 0.3M pixels, and rear camera is 5M pixels. Battery capacity is 7000Mah. The USB host and HDMI port are available. Operation system is Android 4,4,4.
Now, this unit is already available for sale, the 8GB edition is only 125 euros.
Huawei Mate 8 smart phone
Recently, people disclosed the new smart phone from Huawei, Mate 8. As the news, Huawei Mate 8 will adopt 6 inch or above IPS screen, resolution will be 2K. Regarding the CPU, Huawei may adopt the new Kirin 930 processor, its performance will be much better than last generation. Till now, there is now further news about it.
But as our estimation, the new Mate 8 will own 2GB RAM at least, maybe 3GB or 4GB. Regarding flash memory, it should be more than 32GB. This new Mate 8 will be displayed on the WMC trade show. Then we will let you know more information about it.
Samsung 14nm processor is available for mass production
As news from Ontablets, Samsung has announced today, its 14nm FinFET process is already available for mass production, it is much earlier than TSMC. Compared with the 20nm processor in market, its power consumption is reduced by 35% and performance is enhanced by 20%. So Samsung has already received the order of Apple iPhone.
This Samsung Exynos 7 series will adopt this 14nm processor. As the new Samsung Galaxy S6 will be launched in 1st March, so it will be quite possible adopt this 14nm processor.
Recently, the sales of Samsung smart phone is reduced, but its semi conductor becomes its core business, Now, Apple, Qualcomm, Nvidia, AMD are clients of Samsung.
Apple Watch is more powerful than 1st generation iPad

Surface is sold 2 million pieces in 4th quarter of 2014
As the latest financial report from Microsoft, in the 4th quarter of 2014, its Lumia is sold over 10 million pieces, it reach a new record, in meanwhile, the total sale of Surface is over 1 billion US dollars. That means, in the 4th quarter, the Surface tablet is sold over 2 million pieces.
If the news is true, that means the sales of Surface is nearly twice of HP tablets. But compared with Lenovo which is sold about 3.7 million pieces, and Amazon which is about 4 million pieces, it is still much less. In 2015, tablet suppliers start to launch high end tablet pc with over 8 inch screen size, many mini or medium suppliers will quit the market. In last quarter, the tablet with Windows OS took about 9% of total volume, totally, it is 6 million pieces. Surface has already taken 1/3 of them.
Last week, Microsoft has stopped supplying Surface 2 with Windows RT OS. As the success of Surface Pro, we believe, the sales of Surface will keep on increasing in new year.
Financial report of Mediatek in 2014
Today, Mediatek released its financial report of the forth quarter and whole of 2014. Its total incoming of 2014 is about 7 billion US dollars, and increased by about 56.6% compared with 2013. Its net margin is about 1.5 billion US dollars and increased by 68.8% compared with last year.
In forth quarter, its incoming is reduced by 3.51% to 900 million US dollars. The gross margin is 47.9%, and net margin is 17.8%. It is lower than 3rd quarter which are 49.1% and 17.8%. The net margin is 150 million US dollars, and it is lower than 3rd quarter which is about 210 million US dollars.
Regarding 2015, the CEO of Mediatek said, the sales of smart phone chips will be about 80 to 85 million pieces, this is less than the 4th quarter of 2014 which is over 100 million pieces. The total incoming will be reduced by 10% to 18%. Gross margin will be about 47%.
As Ontablets estimation, the total sales of smart phone chips will be over 450 million pieces in 2015. And the 4G LTE chips will be about 150 million pieces. And tablets chips will be about 50 million pieces.
